How to Celebrate the Aries in Your Life + Horoscopes for Every Sign

Written By Laura Cowan | @6th.house.astro

Spring has sprung, the weather is warming up, and nature is showing signs of life again — welcome to Aries season! Every year, on the Spring Equinox, fiery Aries ushers in the changing of the seasons, making it a cardinal sign. Cardinal signs are our initiators and go-getters, and Aries, ruled by Mars (the planet of action), definitely falls under this category. You can therefore expect someone with this sun and/or rising sign to be energetic, assertive, and courageous. Once an Aries knows what they want, they aren’t afraid to take initiative and get there, and they make excellent leaders as a result — if not a bit bossy at times. They can also be impatient, impulsive, and short-tempered, but once they get it out of their system through a healthy physical outlet, they quickly bounce back to their dynamic selves. Anything from running a mile to punching a pillow and pretending it’s their irritating coworker helps them process in a healthy way (you know, instead of actually punching their irritating coworker…). Their willingness to take action also makes them excellent problem solvers who are adept at tackling challenges in the moment, so you can usually count on an Aries to help in a crisis.

Celebrate the Aries in your life by planning a fun activity that gets their adrenaline going. A trip to a rage room where they can let it all out comes to mind. Go-karting, axe throwing, ziplining, paintball, and kayaking are all great ideas. If they’re into nature, going on a hike with a view worthy of the trek could be the breath of fresh air they need. If they’re impulsive, perhaps a spontaneous road trip out of town is in order. Getting them VIP concert tickets, taking them to see their favorite team play, a birthday dinner, or a surprise party where they’re the center of attention will go over well as they enjoy a main character moment. Appeal to their competitive side and host a game night tournament. Or, if they’ve been wanting to try a new experience, anything action-oriented or exciting will float their boat; think along the lines of a pole or dance class, cooking class, or something random and edgy like skydiving or stunt driving. Are they more on the chill side? Some Aries just want a quiet drinks-and-dinner hang at their favorite restaurant, or a solo day where no one is pestering them.

As far as gifts, all zodiac signs are associated with different areas of the body, and Aries rules the head and eyes. If they’re a hat person, get them headwear you know they’ll love or those vintage Ray Ban glasses that have been sitting in their Ebay cart. ASMR head spas are becoming popular, so maybe book them for a service. A fancy scalp massage that feels exclusive will put that pep back in their step. Aries are also known to enjoy a customized gift: a name necklace, something personalized, or anything that says “you’re that bitch” is something they’ll love. If they’re active, maybe some workout gear, a fitness tracker, or anything performance-based should go over well. Perhaps they’re more on the ambitious side, so a planner or something to keep their goals and appointments organized is the way to go. Anything bold, sexy, and slightly unhinged that matches their “I do what I want” energy will be unforgettable. Aries also love self-discovery and will try anything once, so if they’ve never gotten an astrology or tarot reading, that could be an exciting experience for them, too!

Aries Season Horoscopes

Aries season began on March 20 this year, marking the seasonal turning point from winter to spring, and the day Mercury finally stations direct in Pisces. The lingering mental fog finally lifts, and we will feel our ability to think clearly returning as we move through the post-retrograde shadow phase until April 9. On March 30, Venus entered Taurus, the sign of its rulership, so our aesthetics, relationships, and values will become grounded by physically embodying sensuality and pleasure as it moves through this slower-paced earth sign. This helps balance out some of the more fast-paced, Martian energy found in Aries season.

On April 1, the full moon in Libra arrived at 9:11PM CST. Partnerships, contracts, and commitments are all in the spotlight right now, making you ask yourself if you’re getting what you’re giving in whatever area of life this is hitting in your chart. On April 9, not only are we ending the post-Mercury retrograde shadow phase, but Mars enters Aries, the sign of its rulership. This means that both Venus and Mars will be domicile (in their home signs), so desire and action will be aligned in a harmonious and productive way, and your courage and confidence receive a boost. To add to the fiery mix, Mercury enters Aries on April 14, giving our words and ideas a bolder edge to match our actions. On April 17, the new moon in Aries stations exactly at 6:51AM CST, giving us a fresh start in our identity and personal power. Mercury and Mars will be meeting up with Saturn and Neptune, also in Aries, which may push you to finally initiate an idea or conversation based on a vision serving a deeper purpose. However, it must have structure to prevent unrealistic expectations. Finally, on April 19, we end this year’s Aries season, as the sun shifts into Taurus. Aries: Happy birthday, Aries! We began your season on March 20 this year with Mercury stationing direct in Pisces on the Spring Equinox, lifting any brain fog you’ve been experiencing. Hooray! You may see some forward momentum in your ideas, plans, and goals. However, the real action begins for you in April, starting with the Libra full moon on the first. This will be highlighting the actual state of your relationships, be they romantic, platonic, or business-related. Power dynamics, fairness, and where you’ve been overcompromising versus being selfish will all come up for examination at this time. Will you choose yourself or a relationship with better boundaries? You may feel more confident about what culminates as Mercury and Mars shift into your sign on April 9 and 14, respectively, giving you power to your words and actions. A new version of you is on the horizon with the new moon in your sign on April 17, giving you an opportunity to heal any wounds around self-assertion in a major way. Expect mental clarity to keep returning through the post-retrograde shadow phase until April 9. The Libra full moon on April 1 will activate your house of pleasure and creativity, so you may be feeling self-expressive or flirtier than usual. Go out and have some fun! However, who you’re attracted to versus who really shows up is a totally different matter, so pay attention to who is actually following through with what they say they’re going to do. As Mercury and Mars move into Aries on April 9 and April 14, you will be paying closer attention to who is showing up for you among your friends and community. Time to take action and fix things that force you to compromise your identity for the sake of the group. The Aries new moon on April 17 provides you the opportunity for a fresh start in your relationship to community, offering you the chance to find those that appreciate your ability to self-assert in a group.

Any important conversations that you’ve delayed, have them after April 9 when we leave the post-Mercury retrograde shadow phase. If you think you’ve had to over-explain yourself to be heard, it’s time to let that limiting belief go, especially regarding your personal opinions and teaching methods. As Mercury and Mars enter Aries on April 9 and April 14, you may be taking the initiative to learn more, see more, and do more activities that expand your perspective and overall worldview. The Aries new moon on April 17 gives you new opportunities to become more comfortable expressing your views and personal outlook. This is something to start putting your foot down on, especially as Mercury and Mars enter Aries on April 9 and April 14. Time to take control of the narrative if you’ve let others write too much of your own story. As Mercury and Mars enter Aries on April 9 and April 14, you may be examining and taking action on how you can maintain personal sovereignty in your closest relationship dynamics. The Aries new moon on April 17 will give you a fresh start in your approach to partnerships and how much personal agency you’re willing to sacrifice for others who have not been doing the same for you. Don’t be surprised if you begin to drift from a friend circle that you used to be close to, stop resonating with the message of an organization you’ve been a part of, or come to a realization about what you actually need from your community. Instead, shift your focus to how you can authentically keep expressing yourself and unleashing your ideas, especially as Mercury and Mars enter Aries on April 9 and April 14.
